Born and raised in Moss Point, Mississippi, James Webb is the youngest of 3 children and the son of two working-class parents. Upon graduating from high school, he went off to college to earn a Bachelor's degree in Theater from Florida A&M University and a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from the University of Florida. He currently resides in New York City. |
Training with the Professionals Throughout his training, James had the opportunity to work with many prominent and provocative playwrights, most notably Tony Award-nominated Ntozake Shange, where he created the role of P.T. in the world premiere of Layla's Dream. |

Actor, Singer & Dancer James has performed in New York and regional theaters across the country, including a year in Hong Kong in Disney's™ The Lion King. Some of his other past roles include Curtis Taylor, Jr. in Dreamgirls, Joe in Showboat, Paul in Kiss Me Kate, Lincoln in Topdog/Underdog, Dekker in Big Criminals, Belize in Angels in America: Perestroika, Thaddayah in Hendeka: The Eleven, Wendal in Before It Hits Home, and Schroeder in Your A Good Man, Charlie Brown. |
His Current Projects Currently, James is earning his Ph.D. in Educational Theatre at New York University. He teaches Speech and Communications at the City University of New York, facilitates empowerment workshops and provides individual life coaching. Also, he is working on the completion of his first full-length play, which compares and contrasts the public and private lives of modern day religious leaders in mega churches. |
